Enjoying food has been the only constant throughout the pandemic and with dedicated staff like Donya, mealtimes were always the highlight for residents at BlueCross Hansworth.
Donya’s friendly, caring nature and infectious smile each day even when times are tough, is what her family, colleagues and residents really appreciate.
Working as an FSA for the past five years, Donya also steps up to help in the kitchen as a chef if needed and takes great pride in whatever role she is fulfilling.
In addition to food, Donya takes time to get to know residents and build lasting relationships, listening to their problems, and researching how she can help makes things better.
Donya also ensures birthdays and other occasions are made special with afternoon teas and personalised gifts for both team members and residents.
Working at BlueCross Hansworth is “not just a job” for Donya, “it’s her second home”. It’s this dedication and love for the job that has earned Donya this HLAC award, but many other BlueCross awards throughout her career.
The 2021 Food Service Assistant of the Year is awarded to a Food Service Assistant who has made an outstanding contribution to their profession and whose dedication to their site and residents is commendable.
